POSITION POLICY

DFW Surgical Associates, along with all state boards officially recognize Surgical First Assistants as a component of total patient care within the scope of practice. DFW Surgical Associates adheres to the scope of practice, qualifications, educational requirements, and clinical privileges that must be met by all Surgical First Assistants.

 

The scope of practice that DFW Surgical Associates is performing as a First Assistant and is a part of the overall intraoperative surgical care and is a specialized area of practice. The activities included in First Assisting are further refinements of surgical care intraoperative practice which is executed within the context of our licenses and scope of practice.

 

DFW Surgical collaborates with surgeons and all health care teams in performing a safe surgical procedure with an optimal outcome for the patient. We practice intraoperative care and have acquired all of the necessary knowledge, skills, and judgment specific to this clinical practice.

 

DFW Surgical Associates further recognizes the need for appropriate compensation/reimbursement providing intraoperative patient care.
