The RNFA plays an important role on the surgical team. Working within the authorized scope of practice and under the surgeon’s direction, the first assistant helps facilitate the operative procedure through appropriate assistance with exposure, hemostasis, suturing, and other duties for which the RNFA is trained and credentialed.
